Event Details
A memorial ride to raise funds for a Nelson High School scholarship honoring the memory of Brian Smith, a former physics/math teacher and mentor at Nelson High School who passed away unexpectedly in August 2008. He was a positive influence on hundreds of students and friends.
Riders will depart at 7:15 am from parking lot A near the Burlington/Hamilton Life Bridge and travel along the shores of Lake Ontario toward Niagara. Ride distance options are: 41 km to Grimsby and back, 76 km to Prudhommes and back or 140 to Niagara-on-the-Lake and back. Cut off time for support vehicle is 2pm. SAG wagon assisted event.
About the Brian Smith Scholarship Fund
Brian Smith was a physics and math teacher and a mentor at Nelson High School in Burlington. He passed away unexpectedly in August of 2008. Last year his family and friends wanted to commemorate his love of cycling and his dedication as a teacher by creating a scholarship fund known as The Smitty Award. Each year, a deserving student of Nelson High School will receive $1000 toward their education from this fund. The memorial Niagara-on-the-Lake Ride proudly raised over $5000 last year.

In Advance: $40 (until May 29th)
Day of Event: $40
Includes: Ride with sag wagon support, nutritional snacks, post event party at Boston Manor located in Burlington at Appleby and Fairview. Enjoy an afternoon with friends and family including free buffet lunch, free billiards, live music and door prizes.
